12 Weeks Cannot Come Soon Enough

Well, today marks the beginning of week 11, and that is pleasing for more than one reason.  2 more weeks, and the first trimester is over, meaning baby has safely progressed past the most likely time for miscarriage and (hopefully) morning sickness should be drawing to a close!  Oh, I am looking forward to that thirteenth week.

BT grew a half-inch this past week, making him or her approximately the size of a fig now.  Little fingers and toes have developed on the ends of little hands and feet.  It seems that BT is making lots of movements, but I probably won't be feeling them for about five more weeks. I don't know how they know this at such a tiny stage, but I've read that BT is able to do somersaults, stretches, and forward rolls.  I'm impressed, because I can't even do some of those in my non-pregnant, normal state.

I am still riding the queasy coaster of morning sickness.  Some days are good, and some days are really bad.  Again, hopefully that will be ending soon--I'm going to be an unhappy girl if I'm still feeling bad on Sept. 30!  Still, other than that symptom, I don't feel very pregnant.  No weird cravings, no belly poking out (just fat right now), nothing too weird.  Sometimes I find myself wondering if there's even a baby in there!  That's when those sonogram photos are handy.

I must confess that I'm busting out the maternity wear now.  Just a little.  For the past 3 days, I have had trouble buttoning my pants.  Today my zipper wouldn't even zip.  So my belly band has been getting a workout (GREAT investment there).  At least I can still wear my normal pants, even if they won't completely come together.  Sigh.

A final word, and then I'll be done.  I checked out two consignment sales this weekend for baby equipment & clothes and maternity clothes, and it was so great!  I got a baby bathtub for under three dollars, a floppy seat for $12, and several cute baby outfits and maternity outfits for great prices.  Forget shopping retail; I'm doing consignment and garage sales from here on out!  So if you hear of any good ones, let me know!  We've begun the purchasing process, but there are still many things BT will require.  I will also try to share on here when I hear about good deals or potentially good sales.

Well, that's all from the Tuckers this week.  If you think about us during your prayer time, pray for Jacob as he seeks job direction at FedEx.  He's able to apply for full-time jobs here soon, and he's trying to discern which sort of jobs he should pursue.  Pray that we will both be open to God's will and His leading.  Thanks for reading!  Join us next week for another update in the life of BT!

September 9, 2010

Today we have reached week number 10.  BT is apparently about the size of a kumquat (I'm not really sure what that is), and his or her little organs are starting to grow.  Only 10 more weeks till we find out if we're having a boy or a girl!  We can't wait!

We have begun cleaning out baby's room (formerly the junk room) and are soon going to rearrange the furniture and build the crib we just received!  My aunt and uncle brought us a crib that one of my brothers actually used as a baby.  Isn't recycling great?  This our first major baby addition to the house; it just keeps getting more and more real.  Once we begin working on the baby room, we'll put up some pictures.  We probably won't pick a paint color/theme until we know if it's a boy or girl, though.

What else--morning sickness seems to be lessening.  I still feel queasy most days, but it's very minor.  Haven't thrown up once!  So happy about that.  And my clothes are mostly still fitting (even my skinny jeans!), but a couple items need the button left undone. I am very eager to actually start showing.  I did purchase a few maternity clothes just to be ready for the day when I wake up and nothing fits anymore.

That's all our news for now.  We're going garage-saleing this Saturday at the Bartlett community-wide sale.  I'm hoping to pick up some inexpensive maternity clothes and maybe find some baby bargains.  If you have any thrifty suggestions for picking up these items, comment and let us know!  We appreciate frugal friends!

Everything's Growing Nicely - Except For My Clothes

Well, today was another first - I put on a pair of jeans this morning, and found that they were extremely difficult to button.  I did manage to do it, but very uncomfortably, so I chose to instead loop a hair-tie around the button and through the hole.  Although I've noticed some clothes getting tighter, this was the first item that actually did not fit.  It was a bit sad, but at least I can still wear them (with minor adjustment).

Today marks the beginning of week number 9 and month number 3.  Apparently BT is about the size of a grape, and has tiny little ears, eyes, nose and mouth.  Everything seems to be going well.  My morning sickness has returned with a vengeance, and everything is beginning to taste weird.  Other than that and some extreme fatigue, nothing else noteworthy to report.

That's all for now on the life of BT.  Stay tuned for further updates.

Things Are Looking Up

Well, week 8 is in full swing, and things seem to be progressing nicely.  I don't want to upset my luck, but I've woken up without morning sickness the past 4 days.  Today I even felt totally normal all day--yay!  Maybe morning sickness is over!  I sure hope so.

I go for my first doctor's visit this week.  I'm looking forward to getting an exact due date and finding out more about what my pregnant life will be like.  Jacob and I are so excited!  That's really all the updates for now, I guess.  We'll keep you posted on the progress of Baby Tucker!

Announcing Little Tucker

It's perhaps unbelievable, but true.  Yes, that's right--Jacob and I are going to be parents.  We've known for about 18 days now and it's been sheer torture not being able to announce it to the whole world.  At least, for me it has.  He's a much better secret-keeper.

According to an online due date calculator, Baby Tucker (BT from henceforth) should be making his or her appearance sometime around April 7, 2011.  I don't go to the doctor until August 31, so I'm sure I'll have a more accurate update about BT's birth date after that.  Other than that, all I have unscientifically determined is that I'm approximately 7 weeks along.  BT is the size of a blueberry, and starting to develop little hands and feet.

I really enjoyed pregnancy for the first week (well, technically fifth) because I felt great and super hungry.  However, the appearance of morning sickness for the past week has not been so enjoyable.  I'm hoping it passes quickly.

So that's the BT update for now.  More will be coming as we grow together!
