28 weeks is here! Emma Grace is active as ever, and she seems to be growing because I can now feel her kicking me in the ribs and the hips at the same time. I've been hoping during all this movement she'd flip herself into perfect birthing position, but she still likes tumbling too much. I'm not convinced she stays in any position for long. Last night, she went from horizontal to vertical and every other contortion she could manage in my thirty-minute pre-bedtime reading session. I can't imagine how much she flips during the rest of the day!
Emma Grace should weight 2 to 2 1/2 pounds by now and measure between fourteen and sixteen inches! Her little eyes now have eyelashes, and she can blink. She sleeps through a REM cycle now, and she might even have dreams. I think I felt her hiccuping the other day, but I'm not sure. She is a lot of fun to watch, especially when she tries to escape from my stomach and makes it contort.
This weekend we were able to get her room painted (yay!), thanks to help from some of our wonderful friends. Below are pictures. The color we chose is Colonial Green (which is much perkier than it sounds), and now we have started getting her room somewhat ready. As you'll see, we still have a long way to go - note the unassembled ceiling fan on the daybed.
I really feel like a baby will be coming to live with us soon. We have acquired a crib mattress, umbrella stroller, and changing pad, as well as a collection of cloth diapers. Although I'm not quite ready for her to be here yet, I'm starting to feel more prepared for her arrival!
