Emma Grace!

Most of you have already heard, but we found out Monday that BT is a girl! From now on, we'll be referring to her as Emma Grace. Jacob and I are so excited about having a dear little girl!

We found out a lot about our sweet baby at the ultrasound. She was 11 oz. on Monday (big for her age!), and her heart rate was 151. Right now, she's breech (which explains all her kicks to my bladder), but the doctor said that was very normal at this stage and that she'll probably flip before delivery time. We get another ultrasound at our next appointment because Emma Grace was curled up in a ball and the tech couldn't get all her measurements. We are very okay with getting to see her again so soon.

I took my doctor's advice and drank a Coke before the ultrasound to make sure Emma Grace wouldn't be asleep and blocking the parts we really wanted to see. Well, the poor little thing had never had Coke or anything like it before, and I think we freaked her out. She would not hold still at all during the ultrasound, and she's been kicking up a storm since that day. Sorry, baby. But for anyone who's wondering, the Coke trick DOES work. Almost too well.

As for other news, now that Emma Grace is 21 weeks she has eyebrows and eyelids. She can taste the different things I'm eating (which means hopefully she'll learn to share my love for sweet potato casserole).  She can hear us when we talk to her, so I hope that she is learning our voices. And we're trying to remember to call her by name so that she'll possibly recognize it when she's born.

Finally, here are some pictures of my 20-week belly and our recent Pink & Blue Party where we revealed Emma Grace's gender:

I loooove the name! Emma Grace. So sweet. :) So isn't that the first coke you've had in, like, three years??

Ha, yes, it was my first Coke in a really long time. And Emma Grace's first ever - I think we really freaked her out. She kicked pretty hard for the next 3 days.
