Reaching 30 weeks means that Emma Grace weighs approximately 3 pounds and will continue to gain half a pound per week for the next seven week (or perhaps a little more if she takes after my side of the family). Her little brain is growing rapidly and her soft body-hair (lanugo) is starting to shed. Her little bones are also drinking up my body's supply of calcium, which gives me even more reason to indulge in ice cream.
She's still an active girl, but not quite so feisty as before. Her kicks are more gentle and precise, and she tends to move her whole body around more than just her feet or legs. At least, that's how this outsider perceives it. I'm thinking she's starting to get a little crammed in there, because I can almost always find her little balled up self by poking around my torso. She used to be much more elusive. Her favorite spots to sit seem to be right under my right rib cage (which is uncomfortable) or nestled low, where she has frequent access to kicking my bladder.
Everything seems to continue to be going well. My Braxton-Hicks contractions are coming more frequently, and almost always at night (why does pregnancy have to interfere with sleep so much?!). However, they're still painless and don't usually last longer than an hour or so. They do always freak Jacob out a little, though.
We worked some more on Emma Grace's nursery this past weekend. Her name is now on the wall, along with her pretty little comforter. We also hung some shelves and discovered a furniture arrangement that just might allow enough room for everything. Now if only I could somehow manage to store all our Christmas stuff somewhere besides her closet... I'm waiting to take pictures until the room looks a little more "complete."
To round out this blog post, here are some recent "belly" pictures from when I was 28 weeks (although I truly feel like I'm getting bigger every day!):

Till this one, none of my preggo pics had my face in them. Oops. |
